This time, it wasn’t easy. Soon after our last update, we found out that the relapse was not local anymore and that he has 5 tumours in his body. This time, the tumour in the jaw was affecting his eating and causing a lot of pain. By the time his tests were done and the doctors decided on a treatment plan, he was already on three different painkillers. Luckily, the treatment which consisted of chemotherapy in combination with a genetic …

We’ve seen it coming for a couple of weeks now, but just had it confirmed by test results yesterday. The cancer is back. There will be more tests done to check how much it has spread. Once we get the results Luca will once again join some kind of trial. That’s all we know at the moment. Please pray for him or send him your prayers, thoughts and/or positive energy. We need a miracle.
No, we have not forgotten about you! It is just that for the first time in a long time, we had the semblance of “normalcy” in our lives. We needed some rest after all the treatments and the draining journey to Michigan, to catch up with work and only worry about regular colds and stomach bugs like normal parents do. Normal has been the keyword for Luca too. He has been able to go back to “dagis” (kindergarten), happily reunited …
Hello beautiful people It was a very hectic week! First, a tough journey. We missed our connection in Washington, DC due to heavy security measures and had to spend the night at a hotel without our luggage which was already checked in. When we arrived to Grand Rapids the following day, we were told that the room that was reserved for us at the Ronald McDonalds House was not yet available, so another night at a hotel. During all this time, Luca was always happy, keeping …
Hello beautiful people, After weeks of trying to communicate and negotiate with Sloan Kettering the decision was finally made for us last week. Making a very long story very short, the only treatment option that they have for Luca would cost close to a million dollars and is simply beyond our reach. However, when we started this fundraiser we were deciding between two trials for relapsed neuroblastoma in remission which were both showing results that raised the dismal prognosis that …
Here’s another update and another opportunity for us to once again say thank you, thank you, thank you to all you kind souls out there! Our superhero made it through the last sessions of radiotherapy without any complications, apart from a few days of tolerable pain toward the end. Since then, he had a few days of reuniting with his friends at “dagis” (kindergarten) and other fun activities, only to catch a virus which kept him home with a fever for the last …
Again and again and again, thank you for donating and sharing and giving us so much love! We’ve been waiting with this update because we were hoping to write that we’ve now started planning the dates and details of the vaccine trial. But it is taking more time than we thought to get all the paperwork translated and sent off to MSKCC, so here is little update on where we are in terms of treatments right now. At the moment, our …
Luca’s story was published on Swedish newspaper Sydsvenskan with the title “When the disease came back, she learned to take advantage of the good moments.” Please follow the link below to read the story (in Swedish): http://www.sydsvenskan.se/2016-10-23/livet-ar-att-ta-vara-pa-det-goda
We cannot say it enough, thank you so so so much for all your support and donations! It means the world and more to us. Luca’s hospital in Lund is now in the process of getting all his documents translated into English to be sent to the hospital in New York, so that we can start planning the details of the vaccine treatment as soon as possible. Meanwhile, we want to share with you the good news. All of the end of …
